Now on to the good stuff!
Jack started his therapies a couple weeks ago. He has a developmental specialist that comes over every Tuesday, speech therapy every Wednesday, and occupational therapy every Thursday.
Well, I think I need to back up a bit.
The day after Jack's second birthday, he totally wigged out! I mean ROYALLY! It was like someone seriously flipped a switch and he was a totally different little boy. Almost like he was possessed! All he did was SCREAM and cry nonstop for 2 weeks! I was really starting to think that the "terrible twos" was a LITERAL term. That was until the Sunday before last. He had a REALLY bad day in nursery. So bad, they took him to Matt and asked if we would start coming with him. I guess he started wigging out because they were putting the tables and chairs away after snack time. (too much commotion overstimulates him and he just shuts down completely)
EVERY NIGHT since his birthday, he would wake up 5 or 6 times SCREAMING bloody murder!! That Sunday night he did it again, and I just LOST it! I just bawled and bawled cause I didn't know what the heck I was supposed to do! I kept asking myself, "is he hurting? is something wrong?" or "Is he just being a brat?" If he is being a brat, I don't want to give in and give him what he wants, but at the same time, if he's hurting or something is wrong, and I ignore him cause I think he's just being a brat, than that would be horrible! So that night I prayed and prayed my little heart out so I would know how the heck I was supposed to help him! ALLNIGHT LONG!!! It was then that I realized that Jack had his 2 year well child check the day after his birthday. The Dr. talked me into giving him the Hepatitis A vaccine. He told me there was no controversy regarding the hep a shot and I knew that to be true from my own 9 years experience from giving immunizations. So I decided to give it to him. Boy was that the WRONG decision!
That night after praying ALL NIGHT LONG, I was lying in bed and it just dawned on me to Google "hep a and autism". I was SHOCKED at what I found! There were lots and lots of different stories about children developing autism after their hep a shots. I couldn't believe it! I researched information until after 3 in the morning. I looked up the ingredients to the vaccines and was horrified what I found! There is ALUMINUM and FORMALDEHYDE in the Hep A vaccine!! Both are KNOWN poisons!!! I also found that in some vaccines there is monkey brain cells, monkey liver cells, cow liver cells and cow brain cells and so on and so on! I, for one, was DISGUSTED!!! We are putting this in, our babies!!! After that, I came upon some diagnostic criteria for autism. Then I remembered that we had that same check list from Tyla when she was diagnosed. So I pulled it out to score Jack on it. On the list, they had to score at least 6 or more to be considered autistic. Tyla scored 7, and I scored Jack at a 9!! That's when I realized FOR SURE that he is autistic!!
That night I ordered him the same vitamins and minerals (http://www.brainchildnutritionals.com/Brainchild_Nux.html) we had Tyla on. After 2 weeks of her being on them we noticed her speech doubled and her behavior improved tremendously! Jack has been on them for just over a week, and I am proud to say he is doing AWESOME!! Last week at speech therapy, she was playing with him with the cow and he said, "moo"!! My mom was here too and we all just started clapping and screaming with joy, it scared him a bit! Then all week I was trying to get him to say it again, so I would say "moo" and he would clap for me! He was proud of me I guess. :) Then last Monday, my niece Lexi was putting him in his car seat for me and he wanted in the back of our van, so he start screaming, "NOOO! No, no, no, no, no!" I was just so happy, I asked him," did you just tell me "NO"!" Then Tues, w/ the developmental specialist, he copied her when she said "play". He just made the same sound, but it was obvious he was trying to say it. He also was playing appropriately with his toys! Which is HUGE! He usually just pushes the on/off buttons or bangs on them to make noise. He was actually putting the plastic coins in his fake piggy bank! In the RIGHT slot. He even did this for 20 min!! Jack doesn't sit still for 20 seconds let alone 20 minutes! Then yesterday, in speech, when he was playing with the blocks, he knocked them down and said, "dowwwwn"
His therapists kept telling me he is like a completely different boy! He is giving eye contact for almost 60 seconds, he is laughing, babbling, playing appropriately and trying to imitate sounds. His attention span is way longer too! He just start OT today, and I think this one might be the hardest one. He is SO sensory sensitive it's not even funny. And the job of the OT is to get him to touch the textures he doesn't like and get him to LIKE it! I am already so impressed with his progress! I just pray he keeps it up! I love my little boy so much, and it breaks my heart to think that he is going to struggle through his life! I am going to make sure he struggles a little less, though through his therapies!!

I just wanted to drop you a note and let you know how super-impressed I am with you. You are a super mama! I remember watching Jenny McCarthey on Oprah talking about her autistic son and she talked about moms being advocates for their kids and I think you are a great example of that. Keep it up girl.
I can't believe you found me! What a small world this is that your husband's best friend is Josh. My oldest son is in speech and that was a struggle to know what was the right thing to do. I can't imagine what you are going through. Thank heavens for the gospel and that still small voice. Without I would be lost!
I totally second the fact that you are a super mama! Your kids are very lucky to have such a good mom. Hey this is totally random but my sister Jessica lives in Round Vally and met your sister Cassie the other night. She was telling me about baby Zack Morris and I was like hey I just read that on my friend's blog! What a small world we live in! Take care.

Hey Brianna
I'm so glad you found us. You have such a cute little family. I'm sorry to hear about the hard time you had. I'm so glad it's getting better. We've done the whole speech therapy thing, and I love that you wrote about it and gave links for the autism information. That's really great that vitamins and minerals help out so much. Good luck, it sounds like you're doing a great job.
Great job mom!!! I am so glad he is doing better. By the way, I think that is the cutest tuxedo ever. He is darling!!!!
