One more specialist...one more therapy

Today we had baby Joe's 4 mo well ck and Jack's food evaluation.

I'll start with Baby Joe...

He weighed in at 12 lbs 4 oz ( 5th percentile) and is 25.3 in long ( 70th percentile) and his head is 16.3 in (20th percentile) While his head "seems" on the smaller range...it "looks" really big! He has a flat, misshapen ski slope of a head. Don't get me wrong, he is as cute as can be, but due to prematurity, his head didn't grow the way it should have. When you look at his forehead it kinda looks like he has horns and then from the side it has a MAJOR slope, and from the back it is as flat as can be!! I knew he would probably have to wear a cranial helmet...but I was not prepared to hear what his pediatrician was about to tell me! He has referred us to a pediatric neurosurgeon! He says hopefully he will only need a helmet to re-shape his head, BUT he might need skull surgery to reconstruct his skull!!! WOW! Honestly, I don't know how much more I can take! I guess Baby Joe was feeling a little left out and feeling like Tyla and Jack were having ALL the fun!! So, we'll keep you posted on that as we learn more info.

Now onto Jack...

he had a food evaluation today at Banner Desert Children's Hospital. It is another place that offers different kinds of therapy. This certain therapy deals with food aversion, which has been one of Jacks BIGGEST problems and one of my BIGGEST stresses!! He seriously will NOT eat hardly anything. His diet consists of pretzels, pop-tarts, nutrigrain bars, Gerber Graduates (only 2 flavors) Eggo's french toast sticks, teddy grahams, and SOMETIMES chicken nuggets. But he will usually ONLY eat those in his car seat not his high chair (don't ask) And that about covers it!! I am dead serious...this is IT!! So this is a good thing, this therapy that is. It just seems to be one thing after the other after the other!!! It was pretty cute though, Jack has a major crush on his therapist!!! He seriously had to be carried out kicking and screaming when we left with out her!! He kept going back and grabbing her hand trying to lead her out the door. When my mom and I tried to leave he ran back to her at least 5 or 6 times trying to get her to come with us! I've never seen him do THAT! Not even to ME!! So, sorry Robin, he loves you!! So we pray that they will be able to get him to eat other foods!!! It might make life a little less complicated...

Stinky Stinky stuff! That's no fun to have to deal with stuff for Baby Joe already. If you get a choice of neurosurgeons, you really should pick Harold Rekate. He's out at St. Joseph's in Phoenix. It's only about a 20 minute drive if there isn't traffic but he is seriously THE BEST you'll get. Most neurosurgeons are pretty smart (i'd be worried if they ALL weren't very smart!) but he is truly amazing. He is the very reason we want to move back there so badly. And his nurse is just as amazing. Anyways, good luck with that =(. I'm really glad that Jack loves his feeding therapy. Jordan has that too and doesn't cooperate one bit!
