Prematurity Awareness Month

November is prematurity month. In honor of my sweet little angel, I am joining a few mommies who are blogging for awareness.

I almost feel a little guilty about classifying him in the "preemie" category, compared to those who have way preemies. I consider us EXTREMELY lucky, blessed, whatever you wanna call it. Baby Joe's biggest issues from prematurity is developmental delay. He has been a pretty healthy baby. We've had a few bumps along the road, but NOTHING compared to others.

Baby Joe stayed in the NICU for just over two weeks. Again, nothing compared to most preemies. He was the biggest baby in there weighing in at 5 lbs 3 oz and 19 in long. He was scrawny, but like I said, it could have been worse.

This was the day we were finally able to bring him home. That was THE single most hardest thing I have ever had to do, leaving him at the hospital. On a Good day, I was able to go up and see him twice! For Twenty Minutes!! That's it! I had to rely on others to take me up there and someone else to watch Jack. Keep in mind I had already been in the hospital for over a week myself! The guilt consumed me!!

Prematurity is a serious issue. I want to direct you to my dear friends blog to read her journey!! She is incredible! Go HERE

We LOVE our baby Joe so much!! I can't believe we have been so blessed with this little angel!

Dear Brianna! Don't ever discount your experience just because it wasn't as extreme as someone else's. I agree with you though as far as leaving a child at the hospital. That is the hardest thing a parent can do. I feel blessed that McKenzie was our first & I didn't have to go through the guilt of leaving other children at home. That would be really hard.
