Here we go again...

Today Baby Joe had his evaluation for AzEIP (Az Early Intervention Program). I had been concerned because he is 6 1/2 months old and not hitting some of his milestones...even for his adjusted age of 5 months. People kept telling me not to worry (of course) he was a preemie, he's a boy, blah blah blah....I heard it all before!! After talking to some of Jack's therapists about my concerns, I decided it couldn't hurt to just get the evaluation. So she just left and what did his evaluation show? He is at a 58% delay for his ADJUSTED age! So, that means he is not doing things that 5 month olds should be doing! So we are going to have a physical therapist, occupational therapist, and a developmental specialist! THE MORE THE MERRIER!!

We had his neurosurgeon appt on Wed, too. His head shape has gotten a little better. Not where the doc wants it to be. He wants to wait another month, to see if it corrects itself anymore before we slap a helmet on him. He is concerned about his developmental delay as well. He wants to do an MRI next month too, to rule out scar tissue on his brain! Apparently, it's common in preemies and can cause dev. delays and funky head shapes! If that is the case, then he will have surgery to remove it from his brain, if not, then we'll probably just have a helmet! You know what I wanna say to that??

BRING IT ON!!!

I'm so glad you have the "bring it on" attitude. Sometimes I just feel like "give me a break!!" with all the medical stuff. I try having the same attitude as you but it wears on me...

You have such a great attitude about the things that are going on in your life. You are an AMAZING lady. You will have to keep me informed if he is going to have to wear the helmet.
