Baby James

This has been quite a rough week. I woke up Tues with more contractions/pressure and it significantly got worse. I have been determined to NOT have to go to Triage until it was absolutely necessary this pregnancy! I was even debating all night Wed night if I should just go and get a shot of Terbutaline so I could sleep! But I *toughed* it out until Dr Seal's office opened at 8:30 yesterday morning. Well, I was supposed to have an appointment anyway, but I had to cancel it due to therapy/babysitting issues. I had been doing just fine for the last 4 weeks anyway, I thought it would be fine to skip this weeks appt. Of course, when ever I decide this, something always happens.

Anyway, when I called them they told me to just come down and they would have to work me in. I immediately jumped in the shower. Kinda dreading it because when I HAVE an appt, I am there at least 2 hours. Usually more. I didn't wanna spend my whole day at his office. But I needed to be checked. While in the shower, his nurse called me back and said he wanted me to just go strait to triage. He had a slew of tests he wanted done. Matt had stayed home because I was hurting pretty bad. So off we went to the hospital!

We got there at 9:30. Of course, I get the "your contractions aren't showing up on the monitor" and the "so you thought you were having contractions, but you're not?" (the contractions I had while in FULL labor with Joe didn't show up either!! I went from a 4 to an 8 in an hour and they didn't believe me and asked if I wanted TYLENOL!!) But while doing the bio physical profile, and the trans/vag u/s we got to SEE the contractions! It was crazy! After all the tests were done being performed at 12:30, we had to wait. And wait. And wait some more! Finally got the results back after 3, then when they got in contact with Dr Seal, he was in surgery and wanted to come down and see me himself. So, we were finally discharged at 4:30! What a LONG day!!

The result...I have REALLY low potassium. And for that reason, my contractions flared up, again! But, my cervical length was still stable, even after the contractions we saw while measuring it. Baby is measuring 2 lbs 11 oz and almost 30 weeks gestation! He looks like he's gonna be pretty big! We also got to watch him practice breathing and swallowing! It was pretty cool! I have had these u/s with all my pregnancies but this was the first time we saw the breathing! And she said that it's way rare to actually get to see it! Especially before 34 weeks! Plus it's hit or miss. They don't do it all the time so it's all about timing. But it's always fun to get to see my babes! In the u/s he is playing with his toes and has it resting on his cheek! Oh and he's breech!

That's all for now.
