Joe's surgery

Joe had surgery 2 weeks ago on an Inguinal hernia/hydrocele. Basically swollen/fluid filled testicles and very painful. He was born with it and it is really common in preemies. But we have been watching it because most of the time it corrects itself by the age of 2. Well, since his never got better, off to surgery we went!!

He was such a little trooper! Had no clue what was about to happen, though. He was just having a ball playing with his daddy and all the toys!
This was the stellar outfit he got to wear!!
Daddy pushed him around in this car like a crazy maniac! I was certain he would end up needing stitches in his head before the surgery! It's also what they took him away in. He thought he was just going for a fun ride...but he was actually going to the OR.

He did REALLY amazing!! The actual surgery took just over an hour. When we got to go back to him in the recovery room he was NOT a happy camper. Anesthesia didn't agree with him, he was super combative! They had to wrap his IV like 10 times so he couldn't rip it out! He got a FEW doses of Demerol before he finally settled down a bit.

But as soon as we got home he was ok. He ate a whole PB and J sandwich and took a 4 hour nap. After that he was running around like NOTHING happened! He made me nervous that he was jumping and dancing and CLIMBING that night!!

He just has about 3/4 in scar above his "stuff" and that's it! He really was such a trooper! Mom was a bigger mess about it then he was! I sure love my tough little guy!!
