Anyway, we signed all three kids up for the study. Tyla, Jack and Joe. It's a 12 month study where they get ALL kinds of blood work and expensive testing done, a $99 gift card to Target PLUS a whole YEAR of supplements for FREE!! PER CHILD!!! That alone is what made us sign them up. Well, they had to "qualify" but lucky for us all three did! It's what they call a "blind study" where they divide half the kiddos up. One half will be the "treatment group" where the other half will be the "delayed group" Each group gets all the supplements and everything, but the delayed group doesn't get them until after the 12 months is up. There is lots and lots of paper work and it's a HUGE commitment!! But like I said, they get all this stuff done for FREE!!!
I have been feeling SUPER guilty lately! Because when Tyla and Jack were very first diagnosed, I dove into it! We took them to the DAN! Dr's, we put them on all these supplements, we had all sorts of labs done, stool samples etc, etc, etc! But it was SOOOO expensive and THEN we had amazing insurance that at lest paid for half of everything. Then after Joe was born, UPS switched insurance companies and they don't pay for ANYTHING!!!! SO, we haven't had anything done for Joe. And it's seriously made me feel like a big fat piece of garbage! How do you choose which child to get help or treatment for? It's an impossible choice.
However, it's a choice I no longer have to make! ALL THREE KIDS HAVE BEEN CHOSEN TO BE IN THE STUDY GROUP!!!! This is amazing!!!! It means we get all kinds of testing done!! Tests that would be thousands and thousands of dollars for one child, let alone, all 3!!! The hardest part (besides the blood draws for ALL of them on Sat morning) will be the diet for the boys! I already have a hard enough time getting the boys to eat anything as it is!! Luckily, Jack has an amazing feeding therapist already, and they also offer feeding counseling. It'll be tricky, but it'll be soooo worth it!!!
Hey, have I mentioned FREE SUPPLEMENTS FOR A YEAR?!
Stay tuned!

How amazing. What a great chance for your kids. I think they are very lucky to have a “great big piece of garbage” that loves that as much as you do. The thing about medical stuff is that you can literally go broke trying to offer them even the smallest amount of help. You are doing awesome!
